"The Nature of Beauty" project explores the concept of beauty by capturing the unique patterns and crystalline purity of Baikal's ice and transferring these images onto carpets.
Lake Baikal, located in Siberia, is the world's deepest and oldest freshwater lake, renowned for its extraordinary clarity and transparency. During winter, Baikal becomes a natural masterpiece, its surface covered with ice etched with intricate patterns of cracks and air bubbles.
This project integrates the natural ideal into a human context, weaving it into everyday life where nature and craftsmanship converge. The Baikal ice, with its pristine clarity, cracks, and bubbles, embodies an imperfect beauty that challenges traditional ideals, and invites to reconsider beauty as something found in contrasts and imperfections, where true vitality and depth emerge.
Beauty is not always found in perfect forms and purity, but rather in unique combinations and contrasts, where life and individuality are revealed.
